Dundas is a suburb of Sydney in the City of Parramatta Local Government Area.
Dundas has a railway station on the Carlingford line, to the south the next station is Rydalmere and to the north Telopea.
Dundas and surrounding areas were originally known as "The Ponds" a name still reflected in The Ponds Creek.

The Albert Chapman mineral collection was purchased by the New South Wales Government in 1988, with assistance from Conzinc Riotinto Australia, North Broken Hill and BHP.
In December 1995 the New South Wales Government transferred care of this collection to the Australian Museum, where it is now on permanent display in a magnificent new exhibition which opened on 27 September 1996.

Alex Morton read a paper to the Royal Society of Tasmania prepared by Petterd entitled "A note on the occurrence in Wales of the mineral dundasite which was supposed heretofore to be peculiar to Tasmania".
Dundasite is a mineral substance of extremely unique and peculiar composition, and up to the time of its determination as occurring at the silver-lead mines of Dundas, was previously unknown to mineralogical science, although such a vast amount of research work had been accomplished among the numerous secondary lead salts.

I had always assumed with a name such as Dundas that I had Scottish ancestry so it came as a bit of a surprise to find out I came from Irish stock, but quite possibly Scots-Irish.
There was also the discovery of the true spelling of the family name, Dundass with the double S. The spelling changed in 1853 at the time of a birth registration in the UK and has remained that way since.
I have traced a whole line of the Dundas family to New York and I am greatly indebted to Loreen Farley for the help she has given me with her side of the Dundas line.
