Mongolia's eastern provinces of Dornod, Suhbaatar, and Hentii are dominated by grassy steppe, a geography that suits the region's major economy— sheep, cattle, and horse breeding.
Dornod is the farthest east of Mongolia's provinces (2000 population 75,000, area 123,000 square kilometers), famous for free-ranging herds of antelope that often number in the thousands.
The intermediate region is suited to sheep breeding, and the province boasts the largest sheep population in the country.

 MonInfo - Preparations for Winter Nearly Complete: Ministry
Ulaanbaatar and Dornogovi provinces have yet to submit their work, according to P. Ganhuyag, Head of the Livestock division at the Ministry, who said that winter preparations in the countryside could be as high as 97 percent complete.
Ganhuyag said that province and soum governors were assigned to prepare 982.8 thousand tonnes of natural hay and 44.4 thousand tonnes of manually prepared nourishment in the country according to the Government’s 175th decree.
Turbat, Governor of Dundgovi province only said that they have prepared about 600 tonnes of grass and over 400 tonnes of nourishment had been prepared for its 1.9 million heads of livestock in the province.

In Mongolia it is the name of the toplevel administrative subdivisions (provinces).
After the Mongolian declaration of independence of 1921, the provinces of Ala-Shan, Ordos, Silin Gol, and Chearim remained with China, and Tannu Tuva became the independent Urjanchai Republic (today the autonomous Tuva Republic in Russia).
The subdivision of the remaining Mongolia was then refined, creating the Aymags Bayanhongor, Bayan-Ölgiy, Bulgan, Dundgovi, Govi-Altay, and Sühbaatar.

I was in Dundgovi province in the south of the country, where the disaster claimed the largest toll of 484,800 dead animals - 23% of its total livestock.

The program in Dundgovi and Gobi-Sumber raised land tenure issues, while the program in Umnugovi also focused on land tenure and debated how businesses can engage with and apply for health and safety certificates from the professional inspection agency.
The general public was actively engaged during the programs, and callers made a number of suggestions on how local government should change to better serve the business community and support economic development in the aimags.
