Topic: Dungeon (computer game)

Dungeon (computer game) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The game was an unlicensed implementation of the new role playing game Dungeons and Dragons, and described the movements of a multi-player party through a monster-inhabited dungeon.
This advancement was possible because earlier games printed game status for the player on teletype machines or a line printer, at speeds ranging from 10 to 30 characters per second with a rat-a-tat-tat sound as a metal ball or belt with characters was pressed against the paper through an inked ribbon by a hammer.
Dungeon was picked up by fewer universities and systems in the mid-1970s than Daglow's earlier Star Trek computer game had been in 1971, primarily because it took a then-huge 36K of system RAM vs. 32K for Star Trek.

Dungeon Master (computer game) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dungeon Master was the first 3D realtime action role playing computer game.
It was first published in 1987 on Atari ST by FTL Games and went on to become the ST's best selling product of all time.
While games such as The Bard's Tale offered Dungeons and Dragons -style roleplaying, Dungeon Master took it one step further by doing away with the traditional turn-based approach that was prevalent until then.

 Game Studies 0102: Editorial
As beginnings go, 2001 was a success: it was the year we could finally imagine and conceptualize a new academic field focused on the aesthetics, cultures and technologies of computer games.
At the recent Game Developer's Conference in San José (better known as Silicon Valley), organized by IGDA (the International Game Developers Association), a two-day Academic Summit was held, and attended by almost 150 people from academic institutions and the gaming industry.
It could even be detrimental: A game that cannot make money but is immensely popular makes it harder to make money on other games, since there would be less incentive to buy them, and less time to play them.

Lora's Computer Game Reviews: Fun Role-Playing/Adventure Games for Busy People
This French adventure game is marred by a rigidly linear plot and a number of interface problems, but the delicately haunting plot and fascinating characters make it fun to play just the same.
This classic trilogy has not aged well (the interface is unpleasant, dungeons and combat are aggravating, and the graphics are extremely dated), but the freshness and wonder of the gameworld still shines through if you have the patience for it.
This game is so low-budget it might be campy fun if it were less pretentious and had a vaguely tolerable interface, but it isn't, and it doesn't.

Computer Game Cheats and Cheat Codes
Some kinds of cheating can enhance your gaming experience--hex-editing a savegame to give low-level characters a spell that eliminates boring travel time, for example.
Many kinds of cheating fall someplace in between those two extremes, possibly speeding up or eliminating tedium from a game at the cost of imbalancing it somewhat.
Finally, some games really don't lend themselves to explicit cheating (many puzzle-adventure games, for example, have no cheat codes nor stats to hex-edit) or don't have very many cheats available.
