Dunleer (Irish: Dún Léire) is a small town in County Louth, Ireland.
Situated midway between Dundalk and Drogheda, Dunleer is the principle town in the barony of Ferrard.
Nearby White river Mill is an 18th century flourmill and is open to visitors.

Subsequently, the local community formed the Dunleer Steering Committee, which commissioned New Ground planning consultants to prepare a strategic community development plan; this was presented to the county council in June 2000.
In Dunleer alone, developers were already planning a number of suburban housing estates as well as a "retail outlet village".
Their intervention was described as "unprecedented" by a former Dunleer councillor, Hugh Conlon, who attacked the five for focusing on land rezoning, while ignoring more important issues such as water supplies, lack of recreational facilities and parking problems.

Dunleer, County Louth, Ireland, November 14 -- Race Director Larry McGuill is pleased to announce that Catherina McKiernan, Ireland's top Marathon runner and 4 time runner up in the World Cross Country Championships has committed to run this year's ADIDAS Ras na hEireann.
We are looking forward to Catherina coming back to Dunleer and we will be expecting a much larger crowd than last year to cheer her on to victory.
Catherina too, is excited about running again in Dunleer after her great victory in Holland where she nearly broke the women's world record for the marathon.

The tradition that St. Brigid was associated with Dunleer is strong in the Parish.
In the course of improvements in the churchyard in Dunleer, a stone was unearthed, of which only a fragment remains and on one side of it is the word Machbríde, which points to the local generation of St. Brigid.
Those who received land in the civil Parish of Dunleer remained only until the restoration of the monarchy in England in the person of Charles II, Colonel William Legg fought on the side of Charles I until Charles was executed.

Morgan: I welcome the opportunity to raise the case of Scoil Ui Mhuiri, Dunleer, County Louth, a school built in 1954 with four classrooms to cater for 60 students.
A total of 49 years later there are 354 students and the four original classrooms are supplemented by two other classrooms, 14 prefabricated classrooms and one prefabricated staff room.
The Government must make a clear commitment to provide the funding for capital investment in education in order that all children of the State will be able to access education on an equal basis.

Take the road running past the entrance to Dunleer Quarry and Gallstown House and then follow a lane leading south.
A legend, associated with this well, recounts that St. Brigid, pursued by a suitor, realised that her beauty attracted men but since she wanted to remain unmarried, disfigured herself by plucking out an eye.
In Dunleer, she bathed her eye in the holy well and her sight was miraculously restored.

CAPPOG, or KIPPOGUE, a parish, in the barony of ARDEE county of LOUTH and province of LEINSTER, 1 mile (N.) from Dunleer ; containing 542 inhabitants, of which number, 128 are in the village.
This parish is situated on the road from Drogheda to Dundalk, and comprises according to the Ordnance survey, 1283½ statute acres, partly pasture but chiefly arable land.
It is a rectory, in the diocese of Armagh, and constitutes part of the union of Dunleer : the tithes amount to £127.
