  Changing Dunmurry
In 1900 buildings in Dunmurry village were loosely grouped together on the north side of the railway track close to a textile mill, corn mill, church and school.
Turning to the local scene it is noteworthy that the rateable valuation of Dunmurry townland changed from £6183 in 1901 to £41,549 in 1961 while the population rose from 1426 to 4607.
Dunmurry district lay in a zone of transition by this date, between the dominant grassland zone downvalley to the increasing amount of arable land upvalley.

In 1983, Dunmurry Golf Club moved from its original location north of Dunmurry village to a site overlooking the River Lagan and adjacent to the Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park.

 Henry Edmondstone Medlicott history Dumurry
He purchased Tulley, Dunmurry, Ardscull, Ardnecross, Youngstown, etc. etc., Co. Kildare, from John Berkeley, Viscount Fitzharding, in 1712 by Deed executed on 19th August, and enrolled on the 27th October 1714.
He was of Dunmurry and married Elizabeth McRoberts of Carlow.
James Edward Medlicott, of Dunmurry, J.P. was born on 19th December 1827, and died January 25th 1913.

Following Dunmurry's 2002 award for best Clubhouse / Course Presentation in Ulster, Dunmurry has been selected as AIB All Ireland Golf Club of the Year for 2003.
Dunmurry representatives, Colin Fleming, Lillian Patterson, Andy Sproule and John Campbell displaying the All Ireland Junior Golf, Ulster Junior Golf and AIB Golf Club of the Year Trophies.
The AIB All Ireland Golf Club of the Year award, and development grants totalling €7,500, were presented to the club at a function held in AIB Bankcentre, Dublin on Friday 14th November 2003.

 Medlicott family Dunmurry reminiscences
One of his earliest recollections was during the summer visits with his young brother and sister to their Grandmother, old Mrs Speer (who had been a Donovan of Ballymore Castle, Co.Wexford), at "Granitefield." near Monkstown, Dublin, and their rush to the nursery window in the early mornings to see the Wexford Mail Coach pass.
At the great age of 90, my Great-grandfather, who was a fearless and impetuous rider, rode down the face of Dunmurry Hill on the North side known as "Guidenstown," a hazardous feat, as the Hill on that side is almost precipitous.
Grandfather the lands running from the Dunmurry boundary of "Featherbed Lane" and the "White fields" to the Currage Edge (which used to be known as "Murrin's Farm"), at the nominal rent of 5/- an acre for ever.

The Seconds had a remarkable win at Dunmurry when their opponents rattled up 291-9 in their 50 overs despite the best efforts of Simon Cardwell with 4-45.
A stunning chase would follow though as Peter Hazelton and debutant Phil Polack scored fantastic centuries in a 6 wicket win for Armagh in what was surely a club record chase.

Rev Beattie began his ministry in Dunmurry in October 1965 and steered the local community through the worst of the Troubles.
Mr Beattie was also instrumental in the establishment of the Free Presbyterian Churches in Hillsborough and Lisburn, Kilkeel, Larne, Lisbellaw, Portadown and Antrim, as well as further afield in London and even in Lebanon, where he has been helping to establish a congregation.
To celebrate and commemorate the lifetime of service to the church, Dunmurry Free Presbyterian Church held a special service recently, welcoming the church's Moderator, the Rev Ian Paisley, who was keen to mark the dedication of the man who helped him to build the Free Presbyterian Church around the world.

The jobs of 300 workers at a car parts factory outside Belfast are under threat.
Visteon says the Dunmurry plant is in a difficult financial position and is not making products that are part of the company's global strategy.
