Dunnville is a community in southern Ontario of approximately 13,000, about 45 minutes from Fort Erie and Buffalo, New York.
It is located on the Grand River in Haldimand County, Ontario historically near the Talbot Trail.
There is an impassable dam at Dunnville which regulates the level of the canal at Port Maitland which in turn helps regulate the level of the Welland Canal.

Dunnville was established in 1974 as a town in the Regional Municipality of Haldimand-Norfolk from the former townships of Canborough, Dunn, Moulton and Sherbrooke and the town of Dunnville.
In 2001, the regional municipality was abolished, and the local municipalities of Dunnville, Haldimand and part of NANTICOKE were amalgamated into the single-tier authority of the town of HALDIMAND.
Located on the Lower Grand River near where it meets Lake Erie, the original Dunnville was initiated in 1829 when a dam was built across the Grand River to supply water for the WELLAND CANAL.

During July - August of 2002, the CP Dunnville Spur trackage was lifted between Smithville and the Port Davidson area at the E&O diamond.
Between mile 0.0 and 9.63 the CP Dunnville Spur is closed as of the departure of northbound Welland yard Job 2 on May 7, 2001.

Dunnville Airport opened on November 25, 1940 as one of twenty-eight Service Flying Training Schools (SFTS) constructed under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan.
The Dunnville Airport, then designated as Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) No. 6 SFTS, Dunnville, was a single-engine school for advanced flying training for fighter pilots during World War II.
Enduring years of abandonment and several more years as a turkey farm, the facilities had fallen in to a state of poor repair until it was purchased in January 1999.

I went to Dunnville Aug 2002, and was having a great time until I was provoked onto a drunkin' moving GMC pick-up truck.
A choice must be made now, whether to be progressive in marketing Dunnville, and to face (and overcome) the challenges that come with it, or to be content with the sleepy town idea.
Now this year, thanks to a handfull of seasonal residents and a couple of 80 year old minded politicians with a burr up their ass for somethings that's not quite suitable for geriatric residents: they've thrown this town back into the age of feeble-mindedness.
