Duo is the result of a management take over of Maersk Air Ltd. This carrier was a major franchise operator for British Airways until it decided to go its own way in 2003.
Duo is a fairly new set up but we have nevertheless heard extremely positive reports of the on board service.
Duo operate from Terminal 2 (Eurohub) at Birmingham - which is a fairly relaxed airport to depart from.

Duo, which flew seven aircraft to northern Europe and Scandinavia, has blamed the collapse of its business on a failure to secure extra investment.
Duo said its customers were "unlikely" to be protected by Atol (Air Travel Organisers' Licensing), the scheme set up to protect the public from losing money or being stranded abroad when travel firms go bust.
In a statement, Deloitte said extra investment was found for Duo but that "poor trading" in March 2004 meant even more cash was needed to keep the firm afloat.

Well, the background colours are nice but the DUO logo is not so nice.
Colour scheme will be better in the "flesh" I'm sure, and is an improvement on the blue overall of Maersk in my ever so humble opinion.

Originally formed in 1983 as Birmingham Executive Airways, the airline underwent name and ownership changes until, in June 2003, the airline was sold to existing management and employees and adopted its current name.
Following the change of ownership, projected revenues did not materialise and, despite growing bookings, the airline required additional funding to continue operating.

Schiphol Airport is one of the best transit airports in the world, but some luggage mess lately has lowered the impression.
Long lines at check-in, and when you finally reach the counter, you're met by unfriendly staff, at least at the British Airways desks.
Check-in for British Airways was handled by a lap-top computer obviously brought in from London.

Duo is the result of a management buyout of Maersk Air UK and as can be seen from their website will retain Birmingham as their base.
I just read that they are still operating as a BA franchise out of Birmingham, but that they are operating their own flights out of Edinburgh.
