 Neil Diamond on Bang Records
Over the course of time, Neil's Bang recordings had been haphazardly re-issued with variations of the same songs due to many factors such as overdubs, fake stereo, speed problems, stereo channel reversals, poor quality master tapes, premature fade-outs or different vocal takes.
Classic examples of Duophonic rechanneling are "I Want to Hold Your Hand," "She Loves You" by The Beatles on their early Capitol LPs and the entire Pet Sounds album by The Beach Boys.
This was done after the original recording was made, since even the JFY mono albums did not have it.

Recordings by British artists were rarely issued in the United States, and when they were, they rarely had any impact.
When record stores in the DC area informed Capitol of demand for the single, the label threatened WWDC with legal action if the station kept playing the song because the record wasn't set for release in America until January 13, 1964.
Capitol described its simulated two-track mixes as "duophonic recordings." The duophonic mixes for these two songs were created from the mono mixes of the British single made on October 21, 1963.

This was the Stereolab that recorded 1996's 'Emperor Tomato Ketchup', although soon after, Richard Harrison took over as bassist from Brown and, in turn, Simon Johns has now played bass with the band for some five years.
The recordings were, once again, undertaken mostly in Chicago with the team of John McEntire and Jim O'Rourke producing the lp with the group and, inevitably, Sean O'Hagan also on hand to add to the keyboard and arranging strengths.
Here they recorded through the spring completing the material that provided, first, the extended EP 'Instant 0 In The Universe' and the full lp, 'Margarine Eclipse', scheduled for release in February 2004.

Over the proceeding months and years, I would come to realize that not only was Duophonic (and their more "legit" label Ultra High Frequency Disks) the label run by Stereolab, but also, they put out some tremendous records when the urge hit them.
For Duophonic, "Gamera" further cemented their place in the small yet prestigious pantheon of great (yet regretfully obscure) labels to emerge in the 90's.
Duophonic's disinterest in widely distributing their releases, combined with their apparent indifference towards promotion, doesn't seem to bother the label's trustees.

Stereolab - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Stereolab are also notable for founding their own record label, Duophonic Records, with a grant from UK charity The Prince's Trust.
They were founded in 1990 by songwriters Tim Gane (guitar, keyboards), formerly of the band McCarthy, and Lætitia Sadier (sometimes credited as Seaya Sadier; vocals, keyboards, trombone, guitar), who is from France and sings in both English and French.
Lyrically, Stereolab's music is quirky (song titles evoke memories of 1950s science fiction stories, and are often borrowed directly from old films and records of the period, but have nothing to do with the song's content), but highly politically and philosophically charged, sometimes with a decidedly marxist or feminist bent.

With the release of TRINITY NEON (IEP's first full-length following an earlier EP), Johns and his mates manage to further refine the soundtrack to the ever-expanding Duophonic Records universe without making too much of a mess of things, though a bit of repetition is to be expected.
For the most part, the album chugs along with diminutive grace, as Farfisa and Fender Rhodes (there are four different electric pianos used on this record) trade tangents over percolating basslines and low-slung drums while short-circuit guitars make gentle droney waves in the background.
Besides the jaunty "Theme," the finest moment on TRINITY NEON is the slowly building "King's Evil." Haunting hammered dulcimer winds around a car-chase theme from 1965 cutting pop loop-shaped donuts in the parking lot until the final moments when our heroes put the guitars into overdrive and speed off into the sunset.
