Alice Naber was nominated along with Dressage rider Dagmar Bijl and swimmer Dorien Cone for sportwoman of the year for the area of Dronten.
Thanks to a good season including a nomination for the Olymics in Athens, award of Dutch Champion with Coral Estate Baxter in Boekelo and 8th place in the international field, Alice was awarded the title of Sportswoman of the Year.

The Dutch swimmers are coached by Jacco Verhaeren, coach of PSV Eindhoven.
In 1999 Luc van Lierde was named "Sportsman of the Year" in Belgium, Pieter van den Hoogenband was named "Sportsman of the Year" in Holland, the Dutch men's 400 m relay team was named "Team of the year" and Inge de Bruijn finished in second place for "Sportswoman of the Year" in Holland.
The Dutch also won 2 relay medals in the Olympics, the first ever as the Dutch women won the silver in the 400 m free relay and the men won the bronze in the 800 m free relay.

Heads up for Brits...last year BBC breakfast news had a feature on it, so if anyone is up early enough to catch brekkie news tomorrow, maybe we'll see it.
I think because of her lack of an appearance, there is very little being made of her award, as opposed to Michael Schumacher who was present.
Erm not sure when the rainbow dress was worn, I thought it was at those awards but then she wore the one that is available as your avatar last year (I think).

The rider who started cycling at the age of 11 and has been Hollands Sportswoman of the year on several occassions, was 20 when her career started to take off.

It was the second award that Armstrong received from the Laureus Sports Academy after he was honoured with the Comeback of the Year award in 2000.
While Ronaldo missed out on the Sportsman of the Year, his performances in Brazil's successful World Cup campaign 2002 earned him the Comeback of the Year award.
