Dutch security policy is based primarily on membership in NATO, which the Netherlands joined as a charter member in 1949.
The Dutch were key proponents of the 1992 Maastricht Treaty and were the architects of the 1998 Treaty of Amsterdam.
The number of countries in which the Dutch operate bilateral assistance programs was thus cut from 49 to 36, and the number of sectors in which the Dutch will be active in each country was limited to two to three.

This Dutch Colonial house, on the southeast corner of John and Crown Streets is a 17th-century remnant of the days just after Kingston and the rest of the Dutch colony of New Netherland came under British control.
Several generations of the Person family occupied the house until the 1820s, when the building was converted for use as a public house.
Under the direction of Dutch Governor Peter Stuyvesant, the City of Kingston was created as a fort, or a "stockade," to protect Dutch settlers from the raids of Native Americans.

Uninhabited before Portuguese and Dutch settlers arrived in the 1500s with African slaves, Mauritius is a "rainbow society" of Hindus, Muslims, Creoles, Africans, Chinese and Franco-Mauritians.
The former was prime minister from 1982 to 1995, and Berenger was his coalition partner in two governments.

Thanks to 2004 vote data from Dave Leip's indispensable U.S. Election Atlas and 2000 data mined from this American University election site, I was able to produce the map you see at left of the Bush vote gain in New Jersey by municipality, which is much more granular the county data you commonly see.
The lefty blogs are training an entire generation of activists to conduct themselves outside of those rules, to develop habits which are not only handicaps to persuasion, but are actually almost insurmountable barriers between the lefty blogs and a huge portion of the independent vote and even a large slice of Democrats.
For us election junkies, Pew's political typology of the United States is manna from heaven, a rare bone to chew on in a lean month equidistant from either November.
