Rehearsals are held at Dutchess Community College in Dutchess Hall in room 209 and are held weekly throughout the college year.
The orchestra is open to community members who are able to play their instrument at a senior high school level or better.
Dutchess Community College students enrolled in the Music Performance Program, are able to participate in the orchestra for college credit.

Dutchess Community College is one of the oldest of the 30 community colleges within the State University of New York system.
During the mid-1950s, the citizens of Dutchess County began to express their desire to establish a local college designed to educate county residents.
Dr. James F. Hall was appointed president of the college in December 1957, and the school welcomed its first freshman class of 252 full-time students and 412 part-time students in September 1958.

"It is our responsibility to ensure that Dutchess Community College is prepared for the new millennium," stated County Executive Steinhaus." Demographic studies indicate a significant increase in the population of primary and secondary schools in the region, and also more nontraditional adult students are returning to school.
The expansion is part of the college's Master Plan which was created in 1996.
The projects relating to the college that make up the master plan include constructing a new building to house the Science and Arts departments, moving the library into Hudson Hall where the Science and Arts departments were located and turning the former library into a student service center.
