Dwight Muhammad Qawi (born January 5, 1953) is a former world boxing champion in the light-heavyweight and cruiserweight divisions.
Qawi, then known as Dwight Braxton, was born in Baltimore, Maryland, but grew up in a ramshackle section of Camden, New Jersey, where he got involved with crime at a young age.
Qawi retired in 1999 at the age of 46, with a career record of 41 wins, 11 losses and one draw, with 25 wins by way of knockout.

Spinks out-pointed him over 15-rounds, however Qawi was undeterred as he moved up in weight to next capture the WBA cruiserweight title from Piet Crous on July 27, 1985.
Qawi would fight for the cruiserweight title once more, dropping a 12-round bout to Robert Daniels in 1989.

Dwight Muhammad Qawi, on the other hand, didn’t need to talk about himself; he embodied the 'bad intentions' moniker in the early-to-mid-1980s, when he tore through the light heavy and cruiserweight divisions and earned himself a soon-to-be-honoured Hall of Fame career.
Qawi made the much bigger Holyfield miss huge clusters of shots – often up to seven punches at a time – and typically countered on the inside with accurate, damaging flurries.
Qawi’s career faded away after that night and he became a shadow of his former self, losing a rematch to Holyfield and eventually getting knocked out by George Foreman, a fight taken on a mere two weeks notice that Qawi was ill-prepared for.

In what was called by Ring Magazine as the best cruiserweight bout of the 1980s, Holyfield became world champion by defeating Qawi by a narrow 15 round unanimous decision.
He culminated 1986 with a trip to Paris, France, where he beat Mike Brothers by a knockout in three in a non title bout.
In his last fight of '87, he offered Muhammad Qawi a rematch, and this time, he beat Qawi by a knockout in four.
