Dyer County is a county located in the westmost part of the U.S. state of Tennessee.
It is in the part of Tennessee called the "Mississippi bottomland".
To the west, Dyer County is connected to Missouri by Interstate 155 over the Mississippi River, providing the only highway connection, other than those at Memphis, between Tennessee and the states to the west of "The Father of the Waters".

Dyer was known as Dyer Station until 1882 when the U.S. Post Office changed the name to Dyer.
Dyer was captured by Union soldiers during the Civil War who even built a fort there but was liberated by General Nathan Bedford Forrest on December 21, 1862.
Dyer was incorporated as a town on April 21, 1899 with Robert McDaniel as the first mayor and J.A. Mount, recorder.
