In 1999 she worked on the Christmas musical Ostanne rizdvo 90th (The Last Christmas of the 90's), which won the Ukrainian Movie of the Year award.
Her album Dyki Tantsi (Wild Dances) which was issued in 2003 went double platinum in Ukraine, selling over 200,000 copies.
She won the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 with the song Wild Dances, which earned 280 points, receiving points from 34 of the 35 other countries participating in the contest (the exception being Switzerland whose own entry was eliminated after scoring no points in the semi-final).

The Ukrainian pop singer grabbed the attention and votes of Europe's pop fans and won the contest with the song "Dyki Tantsi (Wild Dances)" and the frenetic choreography that accompanied it, to the surprise of most everyone.
Ruslana has appeared on the musical stage since she was 3 years old and has performed in various ensembles from the age of 5.
She received the honor last summer from the International Recording Industry for the album "Dyki Tantsi," just before she signed a recording contract with the London-based recording giant EMI.

Her style is a combination of highland folk music and more contemporary styles.

The Ukrainian singer Ruslana, a cult figure in Ukraine, accompanied by a group of dancers in warrior costumes gave the audience an eye-catching mix of frenetic dancing, skimpy leather costumes and passionate vocals in a song called “Dyki tantsi” (Wild Dances).
Ruslana, one of Ukraine’s top stars, grabbed the crown, mustering 280 points from the televoting in the 36 participant countries.

When I first heard the "Dyki tantsi" album, "Znayu ya" was my favourite song.
It was on the original release of the "Dyki tantsi", though I suspect if you order the album now you'll get the rereleased version with the remixes but without the video.
but I guess that each song will have its own period like Dyki Tanci had for a long time....

This is a follow-up to Ruslana's superb 'Dyki tantsi' album from last year.
A lot of the songs will be familiar to anyone who already has 'Dyki tantsi' - some of these are English-language versions of songs that appeared in Ukrainian on 'Dyki tantsi', for example.
However, there is enough new material to make this a highly enjoyable addition to anyone's CD collection.
