USATODAY.com - Nellie McKay: Think Doris Day with an edge
Though her estranged father is a writer and poet Dylan Thomas was a cousin, McKay says she draws her artistic philosophy from mom Robin Pappas, an actress: "We're joined at the hip, and she has always encouraged me." The singer's maternal grandmother "was a frustrated performer," she adds.
She's so unusual: Nellie McKay may be 19 and cute, but musically speaking, the singer/songwriter has little in common with her nubile pop peers.
Nellie McKay will fulfill one life dream when she sings on Late Show with David Letterman on March 10.

Gayheart responded to the charges in a statement Tuesday, expressing "sorrow and regret" over the incident, but denying there was negligence.

A Monotonic Superclass Linearization for Dylan
Judy Anderson, John Aspinall, Nicolas Graube, Kevin Males, Scott McKay, and Martin Simmons, all of Harlequin, provided us with the class heterarchies and related information for our survey of linearizations.
First, note that the edges of the class heterarchy graph, from which the EPG is constructed, are included in the input sequences for the C3 merge: the local precedence order and the linearizations of superclasses.
However, this form of tuning is fragile, because it requires deep knowledge of the heterarchy and the linearization on behalf of the programmer; subtle changes in early parts of the class heterarchy could cause such uses to create inconsistencies.
