Dynasty Warriors - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dynasty Warriors (真・三國無双:Shin Sangoku Musou in Japan and 真•三国无双: Zhen Sanguo Wu/Moshuang in China; literally meaning, 'Real Three Kingdoms Hit and Miss/Unrivalled' respectively) is a series of video games created by Koei based loosely around the Romance of the Three Kingdoms epic, and is a spinoff series of ROTK (Sangokushi/Sanguo Yanyi).
From Dynasty Warriors 2 onward, a general is chosen as a playable character and they play through a number of levels representing certain conflicts in the time of the three kingdoms eventually defeating both of the other kingdoms and becoming the ruler of China.

Dynasty Tactics 2 - The Next Level PS2 Game Review
Dynasty Tactics 2 is less of a sequel than it is an update to its predecessor.
Similarly, the two tactics "pit" and "taunt", among the most powerful in the entire game because of their ability to draw an opposing commander to the proverbial lion's den, remain as a glaring weakness wherein one tactic can turn the fate of an entire scenario.
One problem with Tactics' scenarios is that if you take down an enemy commander to quickly and don't vanquish all of the officers at their disposal, you lose valuable points that can be used later to purchase tactics.

Dynasty Tactics 2 for PlayStation 2 Review - PlayStation 2 Dynasty Tactics 2 Review
Dynasty Tactics is Koei's newest series based on the novel, and it's the middle ground between the other two--it's focused squarely on exciting battles waged by thousands of soldiers at once, but it's still a deeply strategic game that rewards methodical planning and foresight.
Tactics are useful in and of themselves but are far better when used in concert with other friendly officers' tactics.
Essentially, your units can be made to automatically initiate their tactics in succession if positioned properly with respect to the enemy and if ordered to do so by a strategist unit (typically, a powerful officer in his own right, but he must use his turn to order the combo rather than to attack).

After a unit uses a tactic, the tactic of any allied unit whose requirements have been met will automatically be triggered.
A tactic can be restored to the queue, and used again in the same battle if the Officer destroys an enemy unit, or if a special unit heals the Officer’s unit.

Dynasty Tactics centers on skilled generals who command thousands of soldiers as single units.
A tactic must be at the top of a general's queue to be triggered and must relate to either the unit that just acted or the units that were targeted by the previous action.

Dynasty Tactics - Reader Review - GameFAQs
Dynasty Tactics is a strategy game with a similar battle interface to Romance of the Three Kingdoms but with a far more direct approach to storyline.
Dynasty Tactics has some good and bad moments, as it leaves the political complexity of previous Three Kingdoms based games, but implements a strategy concept that tries to be deep.
'Dynasty Tactics' could have been a slightly smarter game than what it is now, and there are a few things that save it from being a 'Kessen', but it is so unfocused that it ends up being middle-ground from trying to be both a deep and a simple game.

Dynasty Tactics again rests somewhere in the middle of the Koei spectrum, with detailed stills and portraits of the officers and events, and nice FMV cutscenes thrown in to show story development.
During battles, the “tactics” trigger action sequences to bring things to life a little more, but sometimes the fact that the soldiers are carbon copies of one another and even move in total unison like synchronized swimmers is hard to ignore.
Dynasty Tactics is definitely a game that fits into the cliché: “simple enough to get into, but incredibly hard to master.” Thankfully, not knowing how to chain moves together twelve moves before they happen doesn’t mean you’re dead in the water.

 Dynasty Tactics
Dynasty Tactics puts the player in control of Cao Cao, Liu Bei, or Sun Ce, each fighting to unify China under his banner after the fall of the Han Dynasty.
The tactical battles themselves are very well done, and a lot deeper than run of the mill tactics battles.
Tactics alone still don't do very much damage compared to what the enemy generals can take, but if a tactic leaves an enemy in a position where another general could use a tactic on the enemy, they form a combo, and subsequent tactics do vastly more damage.

 Gamer's Logik 4.0 - Dynasty Tactics Review
Koei's newest turn-based strategy, Dynasty Tactics (DT), utilizes the same fantastic fictional characters we have come to know and love in the Dynasty Warriors titles (which is perhaps what makes the game entirely more interesting), but also brings us back to RoTK style gameplay.
The tactics are special techniques, which allow for a more powerful attack or to surprise and confuse your enemy, like "Pierce" or "Ambush." As during all battles, a short cut-scene opens portraying the action you just commanded.
Thus in turn it engages your other armies' tactic and automatically performs its ability like "pierce" once the enemy is facing away from them (which is the condition that needs to be met before that Tactic can be used), making a combo attack which increases enemy casualties.

September 12, 2002 - Dynasty Tactics, according to the folks we've talked to at Koei about it, is meant to bridge the gap somewhat between the company's two other major strategy series of the moment, Kessen and Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
Dynasty Tactics includes three separate campaigns, one for each of the Three Kingdoms, each composed of a lengthy set of missions.
Between regular Tactics and special skills particular to certain generals, there are dozens of different special attacks, on top of the basic variations in troop types, providing a huge breadth of potential strategies for players who possess the knack for setting them up.

The first Dynasty tactics was an absolutely amazing game that I have played for way over 100 hours.
As with Kessen / Dynasty Warriors & the original Dynasty Tactics this game is based around the Romance of the Three Kingdoms saga, and stays true to this story line whilst adding some additional twists to the game play and increasing the number of sub plots available to you.
This is an incredibly immersive game IF you give the time to understand how your generals grow in experience and the different "tactics" that can be learnt, as well as family relationships and the impact these can have in battle.

Also true to the “tactics” name, each troop type can utilize powerful tactics attacks that not only deliver a more devastating blow to the enemy, but also allow for a chain combo system to be utilized.
Moving into tactic positions and unleashing these styles gives a great animated sequence showing your troops knocking over enemies, charging out of tall grass, and so on which can be skipped after you’ve seen them once or twice.
Overall, Dynasty Tactics 2 provides some neat changes, about twice as many tactics, and a couple of new characters to play with which will not only help to prolong gameplay and make for a fun experience, but also give players of the original a little something new to mess with in the series.
