The Du Pont family's importance began when Eleuthère Irénée Du Pont established a gunpowder mill on the Brandywine River in N Delaware.
Outstanding among the Du Ponts was Henry Du Pont (1812-89), a West Point graduate and son of the company's founder, who set the basis for the family's cohesiveness; he headed the firm from 1850 to 1889.
In 1910, Du Pont was ordered to break up its munitions monopoly, and the company subsequently moved into the fibers (it pioneered the development of nylon), paints, and chemicals and materials businesses.

Du Pont argues that retention of the documents for the sole benefit of Flynn's attorney cannot justify rescission of the parties' knowing, voluntary, court-ratified agreement.
Du Pont also asserts that modification is not warranted by the possibility the documents might be destroyed.

I doubted that it was possible, but Paul Krugman, with yesterday’s well-timed perfectly partisan effort, has now written 500 New York Times columns, and not a single one of them qualifies as a “crossover column” — one which consists mostly of criticism of one’s own party, or praise of the other.
When measured by the Lying in Ponds approach of evaluating individual references to the two parties, Paul Krugman is far more one-sided than the average pundit, far more one-sided than any other New York Times columnist, and is rivaled only by Ann Coulter and Robert Scheer of the major pundits evaluated here.
Paul Krugman has referred to himself as “the lonely voice of truth in an ocean of corruption“.
