		My first impressions were that E17 sported some neat features, but configuring the menus (by making all those damn eapp files, E17's special icon format -- read on for more details) was a hassle, plus E17 was missing many of the small features, such as edge-flipping or icon boxes, that I liked in E16.
		I made an attempt at setting this mouse binding in E17, though what happened was middle-clicking anywhere in the window (as opposed to directly on the titlebar) would shade it, which is problematic when, say, browsing in Firefox and trying to open links in new tabs by middle clicking.
		A central feature of the E17 desktop is the collection of modules which can be added or removed as the user wishes, allowing Enlightenment to be as light or heavy as one desires.

		It would be cool if there was a e17 meta package for debian, so that 'apt-get install e17' would install everything needed.

		See this thread for a smiliar method using the repository provided by Elive (note that it's not necessary to modify libc6, and this repo can simply be used as a drop-in for Smoon's.
		I don't think any of us really NEED any of the E17 stuff considering it is pre-alpha software, but it sure is nice to have new stuff to play with.
		I don't use e17 yet and I don't think I'll use it anytime in the future since it's all much too complicated to use.

		E17 includes a few modules, including Randr (that lets the user change the screen resoultion on the fly, thanks to the xrandr extension), Dropshadow (which is responsible for the pretty shadows) and Ibar (similar to the Mac OS X’s one, but nicer in some aspects).
		Previously I compiled E17 from http://enlightenment.freedesktop.org/ on FC 3 and I was able to get E17 to work perfectly.
		The only problem is e17 needs more developer’s, 3 years is a long time without a new stable version.

		I've used E17 for a long time, but after I updated it today some things are behaving oddly.
		The default background is part of the default theme file /usr/share/enlightenment/data/themes/default.edj (assuming you installed E17 to /usr) in case you want to switch back to the default background.
		If your E17 CVS version was downloaded before 08.5.2005, it's a good idea to delete ~/.e/e/config/* to make sure everything uses current config files - you might have an old one which doesn't have some things the new E17 requires.

		What is really impressive about E17 isn't the WM interface, but the tools to build it.

		I have e17 installed along with all dependancies but I can't get it started.
		I got e17 working here installing the rpms but during evas installation I had to use nodeps trick to make it go,even so I've been loading it via.xinitrc file and don't have any enlightement file or whatever at /usr/x11R6/bin directory.
		After a few days of trying, I figured if it's this hard to get to stage one, I'm either lacking some file or something is wrong with my computer.

		Here's what I currently see when I set all the metadata on a large directory: for a while all works well, and depending on the timing of things, the queue first builds up and then gets eliminated or keeps increasing until all metadata commands are issued.
