ECM Records -the innotaive music label
It features Herbie Hancock in his only ECM appearance and several players from the pianist’s circle at the time, but the music is a sequence of pulsing tone-poems, full of glowing, compound sound-colours and subtle interactions, a jazz-and-Buddhism-inspired floating chamber music that was way ahead of its time.
Her ECM debut - in the distinguished company of drummer Paul Motian (who introduced her to the label), clarinettist Perry Robinson and bassist Ed Schuller - is a perfectly poised album of her own music combining attractive melodic jazz writing with subtle Middle Eastern flavour and strong improvising.
Recorded in Argentina and full of strong new melodies, tenderness, love and yearning, this is the first Saluzzi family band disc for ECM in 15 years – and it dances in its own special way.

ECM, an acronym that stands for "Edition of Contemporary Music", is the intellectual baby of Manfred Eicher (born in 1943), who formed the label in Munich way back in 1969.
Most of the recordings are produced by Manfred Eicher himself whilst sonic aesthete Jan-Erik Kongshaug handles recording and mixing duties in his Oslo-based Rainbow Studios.
Each recording is regarded as a closed concept in sound and artwork, and Eicher perfectly well knows how to mix and regroup the musicians on his label, hence creating different ensembles and stylistic mixes.

The Rendell-Carr quintet records, long promised for reissue, are probably the best place to gauge the level of Rendell's mid-career playing renaissance, whilst his earlier efforts on the Tempo and Nixa imprints are valuable documents of his route through the music.
His boldest move on record, indeed something of a manifesto for his whole approach, was the 1975 album entitled simply Saxophone Solos, which, without resorting to over-dubbed trickery, is a welter of overwhelming sound from his unaccompanied soprano.
The trio recording in which he participated with Evan Parker and the American sopranist Steve Lacy has no suggestion that the two Englishmen are deferential junior partners to Lacy, which reflects the hard won respect that Britain's saxophone improvisers had worked for since the Second World War.
