  Czech Model 1/48 Douglas F3D-2 Skynight
Powered by a pair of Westinghouse J34 engines, the Skynight had a crew of two and was armed initially with four 20mm cannons.
In early 1950, the first Skynights were delivered to the Navy and several saw action during the Korean War.
This is the first 1/48 kit of the Skynight, and only the second injection-molded plastic kit of this aircraft.

 Douglas EF-10B Skynight
The Douglas F3D Skynight was designed in the mid to late 1940's to meet a US navy requirement for a modern turbojet powered night fighter.
The Skynight was soon replaced by other aircraft in the US Navy interceptor role, but the US Marines continued to use the aircraft from land bases.
No Skynights are now in flying condition although some are on display in museums and at US military bases.

On March 18, 1966, First Lieutenants McPherson and Davis were the crew on board an EF-10B, one in a flight of two aircraft on an electronic counter-measures mission in support of an air strike approximately 10 miles west of Thanh Hoa City, Thanh Hoa Province.
On March 18, 1966, Davis and a crewmember were providing electronic countermeasures for an air strike over Nghe An Province, North Vietnam when his EF-10B Skynight exploded in midair.
No contact with either man after the explosion was ever established.

At the end of the war, the Skynight returned stateside and was based initially in Southern California, and later based at Cherry Point, North Carolina.
The Skynight was the second jet fighter designed by Douglas for the Navy and the first to go into production.
Although the Skynight was considered to be under powered as compared with other US and enemy fighters, it did see combat action during the Korean conflict.

What is being demonstrated, is that when necessary Europe have the materials technology and the ability to produce with the tolerances needed for F-35, EF and Rafale.
All this is is a ploy so that when JSF tanks because the prices are /outrageously/ beyond what was initially promised, they have already been given technology base access with which to walk and talk their way back into bed on the Continent.

On 10 December 1952, a Skyknight piloted by Marine Lieutenant Joseph Corvi with radar operator Sergeant Dan George spotted a "bogey" on radar.
They could not establish visual contact, but since no "friendlies" were supposed to be in the area, they fired on the target.
By the way, the name "Skyknight" is very commonly misspelled as "SkyNight", and in fact I think I found more references to "SkyNight" than "Skyknight" when I did a search for the type on the Web.
