Eventually exactly one-third of the CN EMD F's were B's, and the same was true of the Alco's.
In the latter orders, every ABA consist had a steam generator in every unit, the EMD F's always being the longer FP7's; and the latter (or perhaps all, I'm not sure) Alco FA's being set up that way also, the numerals 2 and 4 designating this in some way that I forget.
GMD and EMD units of that era used a field loop (and a separate 3-wire cable) to control dynamic braking, whereas the GE system used by Alco and MLW used potential line control.

NOHAB-GM Foundation - History of the M61 Class
This locomotive, derived from EMD's F-units was internally almost equivalent to EMD's FP7, being powered by an EMD 16-567-C prime mover and using DC electric transmission.
To commemorate the 125th anniversary of MÁV, M61-004 was repainted into a red and white livery in 1993, in an attempt to restore the original paint scheme changed in the mid-seventies to the current dark orange.
Other noteworthy events were the renewal of M61-006 in 1995 which included, among others, repainting and major prime mover repair, and in 1996 – not less spectacular – the resurrection of M61-019 who was on the verge of scrapping for quite a while.

What's YOUR favorite EMD locomotive? - Trains.com Forums
My favorite EMD,the FP7 was not listed.I voted for the F7 since the FP7 is a varation of this engine.I can't believe that the GP9,the second most prolific model after the SD40-2,was not listed.[:0] It is also very high on my list.
The fact that I got to operate them also had something to do with my opinion too.
Well lets go back to when they were called EMC.

At milespost 22.5 the train passed through a 680 foot tunnel.
Our vintage FP7 locomotives powering the train, #1510 and 1512, two of only 12 remaining FP7 locomotives in North America, provided ample power for the train; their rhythmic and distinctive cadence, and occassional "gurgle", was often heard as we ascended the grades of the line.
At Perkinsville they were run around the train and connected to the rear-end; thus we we made the return to Clarkdale with the rear of the train now at the front.
