After the 2nd world war, EMD started with the mass production of the E7 and E8, which was succeeded in 1955 by the E9.
EMD was looking for innovations and revolutionized the locomotive industry with the introduction of the AC traction technology.
The findings were incorporated in the development of the new SD70MAC (also called „Big Mac“), and apart from AC technology, these units also featered microprocessor control and self-stearing, high-adhesion trucks, the latter to reduce wear and tear in tight curves.

The EMD SD70 was a series of diesel-electric locomotives produced by General Motors Electro-Motive Division from 1992 to December 2005.
The SD70MAC (colloquially known as a "Mac" or a "Mac 70") is very similar to the SD70M and SD70I (the SD70I's WhisperCab feature was a build-to-order option), the main difference being that the SD70MAC uses AC traction motors.
The majority of SD70MAC models were produced with 4000 horsepower (2,980 kW) EMD Model 710 prime movers, while later-production SD70MACs are rated at 4300 horsepower (3,210 kW) and feature SD45-style flared radiators and the new exhaust system.

EMD AB6 — a unique cab-equipped booster built for the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad.

When the initial SD70MAC rolled off the manufacturing floor in November 1993, it represented the first in AC traction technology for North American freight hauling.
As part of the ICE, now standard equipment on almost all new EMD locomotives, most gauges, control switches, and indicators in the cab have been replaced by two computer-driven display screens built into the control console.
The SD70MAC has a high level of reliability, a 1 million mile overhaul period with radial trucks, 6 year engine overhaul period, and EM2000 advanced microprocessor controls.

But the difficulting in mounting a sound decoder in a N scale unit is that there is very little room for a speaker and the decoder.

Here are some photos of my HO Kato SD70Mac that I took outside (no layout yet).
I am not sure that EMD used the anti skip paint on the SD70Mac, but the GE units have the material applied to them.
Take a look at the bottom picture, if you look close enough at the windows you can see that they are fogged, that was from the dullcoat.
