EPI Europrop International, which is the technical program manager of the TP400-D6 that will power the Airbus A400M military transport, used CATIA for a digital mock-up, although Karsten Muehlenfeld, EPI technical director, said EPI is preparing a TeamCenter-based IT environment that eventually will manage the engine's configuration, task monitoring and test coordination.
EPI's Karsten Muehlenfeld said although the first engine designs are frozen for the purpose of showing the concept engine's performance, it's not the final design because EPI will undertake modifications and further optimizations as development progresses.
EPI and its partners have a modular engine concept for this engine "that isn't on many turboprops yet, which allows the displacement of different modules of the engines," he said.
