What The Epic of is demanded of the epic of art (as some kind of compensation for that natural freedom of evolution which it can never achieve, that sweet abandon, which belongs to nature and to the epic of growth alike) is unity of impression, harmonious and symmetrical development of a conscious heart-thought or motive.
Although no epic, Eastern or Western, can exist without a struggle between good and eviland a struggle upon apparently equal termsit must not be supposed that the warring of conflicting forces which is the motive of Eastern epic has much real relation to the warring of conflicting forces which is the motive of Western epic.
And, as regards the machinery of epic, there is, we suspect, a deeper significance than is commonly apprehended in the fact that the Satan or Shaitan of the Eastern world becomes in Vondel and Milton.a sublime Titan who attracts to himself the admiration which in Eastern poetry belongs entirely to the authority of heaven.

One big advantage in Epic is that it uses *terrain pieces*, i.e.
The rule is simple as long as the terrain placement is obvious but in non-obvious cases I think it falls apart and is open to the same sort of interpretation issues that have plagued most of the Skimmer rules.
The idea of where do you measure range from (which i have to say is a case of being so fundamentally basic that it doesn't bear mentioning) isn't the same as having to measure terrain distances and mid-range distances from firing unit to target.

The EPIC plan was based on Sinclair's proposal that the state of California take over idle factories and farmland, which would then be run as (A jointly owned commercial enterprise (usually organized by farmers or consumers) that produces and distributes goods and services and is run for the benefit of its owners) cooperatives.
Sinclair's movement aroused the strong opposition of business leaders and Republicans in the state, while many moderate Democrats, who found Sinclair's proposals extreme, rallied around a third party candidate.
The effort to stop Sinclair marked the birth of modern media politics including the use of ad agencies, attack ads, and professional (A series of actions advancing a principle or tending toward a particular end) campaign strategists.

EPIC responds to requests for tactical support from federal and state enforcement agencies on specific cases, links ongoing investigations, and also proactively provides enforcement-support information to preempt trafficking activities and to support interdiction.
EPIC has placed special emphasis on supporting counterdrug efforts along the U.S./Mexico border by performing research and analysis of information to develop an understanding of drug movement through Mexico and across the Southwest border, and to identify the major trafficking organizations responsible for that drug movement.

Followers of the movement expressed their outrage at the destruction brought about by World War I by revolting against numerous forms of social convention.
Epics are typically written in a classical style of grand simplicity with elaborate Metaphors and allusions that enhance the symbolic importance of a hero's adventures.
Among these effects are: short, self-contained scenes that keep the play from building to a cathartic climax; songs that comment on the action; and techniques of acting that prevent the actor from developing an emotional identity with his role.

The point of the epic is not to tell the story of the formation and fulfilment (or frustration) of character, of form-giving behaviour in which interiority is transmuted into action and either completed practically or crushed.
The epic is not written in the space between the demands of representation (the realistic portrayal of events) and form-giving (the unfolding of their subjective meaning).
For the epic author there is no question of having to establish his authority as narrator; of articulating, excusing or ironising the space between action and meaning; of justifying his presence as interpreter of the action.

Traditional, orthodox Christian beliefs are the core of the Campus Crusade for Christ movement.
Because of the specialized calling of our movement, we desire to allow for freedom of conviction on other doctrinal matters, provided that any interpretation is based upon the Bible alone, and that no such interpretation shall become an issue which hinders the ministry to which God has called us.
When Bill and Vonette Bright founded Campus Crusade for Christ at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1951, the underlying concept was to "win the campus today and change the world tomorrow." By 1960, Campus Crusade had spread to 40 campuses in the United States and two other countries.

The “EPIC” (End Poverty in California) movement proposes that our unemployed shall be put at productive labor, producing everything which they themselves consume and exchanging those goods among themselves by a method of barter, using warehouse receipts or labor certificates or whatever name you may choose to give to the paper employed.
The “EPIC” movement asserts that this will not hurt private industry, because the unemployed are no longer of any use to industry.
We propose to send fifty thousand unemployed into this work and ask the farmers of the Central Valleys to bring their surplus food crops, taking credits which will be good for water and power when the project is completed.

Take Back Your Government - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This book was written in 1946 but never found a publisher, perhaps due to excess candor.
Like so many of Heinlein's works, he wrote what he knew, in this case based on his experience in California politics in the 1930s and in particular his efforts on behalf of Upton Sinclair's EPIC Movement and Sinclair's attempt to become the Democratic Party's nominee for California governor in 1934.
The book contains hasty annotations by Jerry Pournelle, which he had no time to finish, polish or fact-check, since the publication schedule was dictated by a need to have it hit the bookstands while the Ross Perot campaign for President of the United States was still going strong.
