He carried out the work with ESPCI Ph.D. student Hélène Pernot and scientists Martin Baumert and François Court at Atofina's RandD center in Serquigny.
The French team members used their reactive blending strategy to chemically graft polyamide chains at high temperature onto longer polyethylene chains that contain reactive groups randomly distributed along their length.

He was then director of the École Supérieure de Physique et de Chimie Industrielles de la Ville de Paris (ESPCI), a post he held from 1976 until his retirement in 2002.
ESPCI and its employees eventually became the targets of a police investigation and the resulting legal ruling in the AlBaho Case set important precedents for e-mail privacy and student rights.
