 Movements - 1
ETA, the main watch movement maker in Switzerland, is the owner of the Unitas name and made the Unitas 6497 and 6498 for years.
ETA 6497-1 is a Pocket Watch Movement, which means the crown is at 12 and the subsidiary (small) seconds at 6 o'clock.
This same movement can now be found in large wrist watches and when used as a wristwatch the crown is now at the 3 PM position and the small second can now be found at 9 PM.

This new initiative of ETA was rapidly met with the re-implementation of the repressive Law for the Prevention of Terrorism, on December 1984 (Clark 1984: 253; Ekin 1992: 94).
ETA under the leadership of Miguel Angel Apalategui, came to realise that the cycles of protest had indeed polarised the movement’s identity within the dynamic relationship between centre and periphery (Gilmour 1985: 225).
Yet, the movement by the González Government to negotiate with the PNV that produced a conditional loyalty of the PNV to the Spanish state, was seen as an embracement of an all-Spanish political framework (Hooper 1995: 403).

Challenge to the Transition and ETA’s Movement for the Basque Separatism (KurdishMedia.com)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
On several occasions ETA was convinced that the Basque Country was on the verge of national extinction, of being erased from the map of peoples, because its language and culture were slowly dying out and its customs were being replaced by the alien ones.
While ETA’s violent methods were the voice of the Basque people but also the voice of dissidence during the Franco years, with the transition to democracy, ETA’s violence almost resulted in the abrupt end of democracy with the attempted coup on February 23, 1981.
An ETA document produced in 1979 reveals to us the importance of the Basque language in defining the Basque identity: “Since the times of Machiavelli [language] is an extremely well-known political counsel, and one which works infallibly, that to kill a pueblo there is nothing more deadly than to kill its language.

The Nationalism Project: Competing National Ideologies Chapter IX
ETA’s first priority was to organise resistance to the Francoist regime at a militant level without exposing their activists to the response of the Security Forces; as the desired engagement was preferred to be enacted on the general population so as to more easily mobilise the people against the state (Laqueur 1993: 497).
ETA had to decide between the PNV methodology which concentrated on legalistic and institutional constitutional change, or, that of a revolutionary Left, which in itself was hostile to national movements which they perceived had roots in a bourgeois misreading of history (Padró-Solanet 1996: 452-453).
ETA was a response to the state as much as it was a child of the cleavages produced by the state (Núñez Astrain 1977; Reinares 1987).
