Palestinian territories - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Palestinian territories is one of a number of designations for those portions of the British Mandate of Palestine captured and militarily occupied by Egypt and Jordan, and later by Israel in the Six-Day War.
Previous UNSC resolutions (such as 242 and 338) use the term "Territories occupied by Israel", whereas in the UN General Assembly Resolution 181 passed on November 29, 1947, the term "Samaria and Judea" was used.
The confusion stems from the fact that all these territories were captured by Israel during the 1967 Six-Day War and are regarded by the UN as being under military occupation.
