Eaglehawk Court was built in 1869 to the design of Public Works Department architects and replaced an earlier timber building.
The timber bridge was built in 1906 and was used to connect the timber and farming areas of Gunbower Island to Koondrook and then to the steam tramway to Kerang and the State rail network.
The Walkerville Lime Kilns, located at Waratah Bay in Walkerville, contain six stone and brick kilns that were built in 1875 The kilns were closed in 1926, but remain well preserved and are historically significant for their association with an important industry in early Victoria.

This area was a staging post for thousands of American troops during World War II - road between the airport and Portland Roads jetty was sealed and small patches of bitumen, old bridges and fuel-drum dumps remain along the road.
In some areas it was at least a 30% grade and of course it was all a dirt road - as have been all the roads in Cape York.
This area was deeded to local Aborigines in 1985 and they in turn leased it back as Uluru National Park.

The Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area covers 1.38 million hectares (over 2 million acres), and the entire island has more than 700 miles of walking tracks and18 national parks.  The average summer temperature is 21°C (70°F) and the average winter temperature is 12°C (52° F).
The intended ‘mission’ on Flinders Island failed and by 1847 the remaining 45 Aboriginal survivors were relocated to Oyster Cove near Hobart.  The last survivor of the Palawah people, known as Truganini, is now revered in various memorials around the island.  She died in 1876 at the age of sixty-four.
Areas of undisturbed forest were littered with tangled, overlapping branches and fallen logs laden with lime green lichen.

At least when first mooted it would have the advantage of connecting VR's isolated Gippsland line to the rest of the government's railways, but by the time it was built it was completely useless, meandering through Melbourne's northeastern suburbs contrary to all the flows of traffic.
Equally useful was the connection on viaducts between the two city termini of Flinders Street and Spencer Street, opened in 1891.

Eaglehawk Neck to Hobart with timber, sprang a leak in a gale and was beached on Sandy Bay Beach, Tasmania, broke up, 8 March 1866.
Late in March 1854, was found ashore at Louisa Bay on the far south coast Tasmania, with her mast and bowsprit carried away and no trace of the crew of four, including the captain and a party of seven prospectors she was bringing back from Port Davey.
From Hobart to the whaling station at Oyster Bay, became entangled in the kelp beds in the Mercury Passage, between Maria Island and the Tasmanian mainland, miss-stayed and drifted ashore opposite the island, September 1839.

 This week on the wallaby
Lime Bay camping area was almost uninhabited (apart from possums, which actually climbed onto the Trayon’s roof) but it was a great spot and we were surprised so few campers were patronising it.
There are some pretty primitive ski lodges near the summit, but the only other skiing area we saw on the island was at Mount Field so maybe their downhill skiing facilities aren’t as commercial as those on the mainland.
Most caravan park/camping areas which charged an average of $10 were well-appointed, and overall we found camping much cheaper for what you get than on the mainland.
