An eaglehawk flying near his claim was allegedly the source of the town's name.
The civic heart of old Eaglehawk is clustered around the opulent town hall in Brassey Square at the corner of High St, Sailors Gully Rd and Peg Leg Rd (which is the start of the Loddon Valley Highway).
This reserve protects an important remnant of northern plains flora, including the state's finest stand of native white cypress pines.

The reserve status to be given to the new reserves in accordance with clause 24 of the agreement, is based on the classifications of the State's revised Public Land Classification System (see Attachment 7).
That the establishment of the reserves are based on the development of Defence management arrangements (ie Defence Environmental Management Plans) rather than any modification to existing tenures which may be detrimental to Defence’s usage of the training areas.

 Northern Victoria and Southern Riverina
A small wetland reserve on the edge of the township of Barham (as distinct from Barmah) on the NSW side of the Murray.
To the north of the reserve is an area of State Forest and the Whroo Historic Reserve.
The reserve was originally set aside as a watering point for drovers and later became a sporting reserve before the focus shifted to revegetation and conservation.

Coal used to be mined on the northwest of the Tasman Peninsula in convict times, and ruins of the mine, including barracks, convict quarters and the lime kiln, are found north of Nubeena.
Cape Raoul State Reserve, to the south of town, offers a cliff walk along Shipstern Bluff, with the option of going to Tunnel Bay, a natural rock tunnel created by water erosion.

I am writing to ask whether your group is interested in being involved in the development of a management plan for the proposed Tasman National Park and other State Reserves on the Tasman and Forestier Peninsulas.
Under the Regional Forest Agreement the State has committed to preparing management plans for all national parks by December 2000.

The largest town on the peninsula is Nubeena (population 500), on Wedge Bay.

I'd highly reccomend both the tasman peninsula (perhaps camp at Fortescue Bay), which had some really nice diving amongst the kelp forests, and other rock hops (even eaglehawk neck straight out to the eastern side was great).
There is some accessible spots on the west coast such as Trial Harbour and Grandvill harbour I have not dived these areas but I am led to believe you can easily grab a good feed of crays if the weather allows.
Blackmans Bay boat ramp These two spots are great night dives, and will always see a few weedy sea dragons.

Being lunch time I headed to the bay to have lunch at one of the beaches and sat in the camper and had a meal.
The exit from the boat was as before however this time there was no large car park and having got off the boat and been ushered out the gate despite asking where the security vehicle was we realised we were out of the port area.
When we reached the community of Anson’s Bay we tried to find someone to let them know about the accident, but the only person we could find was a gentleman who said he’d try the police for us but he didn’t like his chances as it is always difficult to contact them around here.
