In Deansgrange Cemetery a grey headstone carved in old Irish script has an inscription in Gaelic that Áine, widow of Eamonn Ceannt (one of the leaders of 1916 Rising) is buried at that location.
The headstone was erected a member of Eamonn Ceannt's 1916 Battalion, and because of this gesture, the resting place of three exceptional O'Brennan sisters - Elizabeth (Lily), Kathleen (Kit) and Fanny (who changed her name to Áine) has been marked.
Eamonn became a founder member of the Irish Volunteers, Áine and Lily were members of Cumann na mBan.
