Dani Zweig's Belated Reviews #25: Eando Binder and "Anton York, Immortal"
By my lights, Eando Binder is another one-book author, though this statement is in accurate in several respects.
Eando Binder was E-and-O (Earl and Otto) Binder.
(Yes, Eando Binder used the title, and a number of the ideas that went with it, before Asimov.) The story is essentially lifted from Frankenstein, with metal replacing spare body parts, and with panicky Americans with shotguns replacing German peasants with pitchforks.

Fictionwise eBooks: Eando Binder's "I, Robot" - The Golden Age Pulp Classic by Eando Binder
First published in 1938, golden age sf author Eando Binder's "I, Robot," the "confessions" of one Adam Link, a mechanical man, preceded, and according to Isaac Asimov inspired, his own robot series.
Later with Binder's permission Asimov "borrowed" the title for the first collection of his robot tales.
Until Binder's "I, Robot," the robots in science fiction stories had been menaces, either used as automatons by evil schemers in attempts to take over the world, or themselves being the evil schemers intent on conquering and exterminating humankind.

After World War 2 Robots and other mechanical creations again became the "heavies" in many stories, reflecting the post-war paranoia, with such creations as Gort in "The Day The Earth Stood Still"
