Wentworth FitzGerald, who succeeded his father as the 17th Earl of Kildare, was born in 1634, married: Lady Elizabeth Holles (2nd daughter of 2nd Earl of Clare) and died on the March 5, 1664.
Elizabeth FitzGerald (for whom the only details available seem to be her two marriages and her death) married the 2nd Earl of Clancarty and subsequently married Sir William Davies and died in 1660.
Her second child was Sir Richard Boyle 1st Earl of Cork, born on October 13, 1566, when Joan was 36.

The Earl bears the subsidiary titles of Viscount Dunlo (1801) and Baron Kilconnel (1797) in the Peerage of Ireland, and of Viscount Clancarty (1823) and Baron Trench (1815) in the Peerage of the United Kingdom.
As Viscount Clancarty, the Earls sat in the House of Lords until 1999, when the House of Lords Act was passed.
