Drake's estate at Amersham, many natural seedlings do not occur, but that on Earl Howe's estate at Dunn where, forty years ago, all or nearly all of the timber was cut, there is a good growth of young seedlings.
One of these was at Cowdray Park in Sussex, the property of the Earl of Egmont, and grew on sandy soil near the top of the great chestnut avenue at a considerable elevation, perhaps 400 feet.

The V.W.H. HUNT - The Vale of White Horse Hunt was founded in 1831 under The Earl of Ducie, hounds having been kennelled at Faringdon since 1824.
