Robert Bertie, 1st Earl of Lindsey - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Lindsey Level in The Fens, between The River Glen and The Haven, at Boston, Lincolnshire was named after the first Earl Lindsey as he was the principal adventurer in its drainage.
Lord Lindsey, who was an old comrade of Robert Devereux, Earl of Essex, the commander of the Parliamentarian forces, knew that he would follow the tactics they had both together studied in Holland, little thinking that one day they should be arrayed one against the other in their own native England.
Lindsey was still full of spirit, and spoke to them so strongly of their broken faith, and of the sin of disloyalty and rebellion, that they slunk away one by one out of the hut, and dissuaded Essex from coming himself to see his old friend, as he had intended.

Earl of Lindsey - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The title of Earl of Lindsey was created in the Peerage of England in 1626 for Robert Bertie, 14th Baron Willoughby de Eresby.
On the latter's death in 1809 the Marquessate of Lindsey and Dukedom of Ancaster and Kesteven became extinct, while the Earldom of Lindsey was passed on to the Duke's distant relative General Albemarle Bertie, who became the ninth Earl.
The Earldom was then claimed by the late Earl's kinsman the Earl of Abingdon, a descendant of the second Earl of Lindsey by his second marriage, who was confirmed in the title in 1951.

No. 1-03-1596, Lindsey v. Board of Education
Lindsey further testified that at one point, she encountered numerous parents outside the school who had voted and who had fliers for the Stars slate.
Lindsey heard that candidate say that she ran out of fliers, but that candidate later exited the school with fliers which were "identical" to the slate's original fliers, which had been printed on blue paper, but which were reproduced on white paper.
At most, the charge was raised only in Lindsey's written statement, where Lindsey claimed that she was unfairly treated by school personnel on the deadline date for submission of campaign literature (April 25, 2002) when she brought her campaign materials to the school for literature distribution day.

 Lord Great Chamberlain
The position is an hereditary one, and was originally held by Robert Malet, a son of one of the leading companions of William the Conqueror.
Thereafter, the Earls of Oxford held the title almost continuously until 1526, with a few intermissions due to the forfeiture of some Earls for treason.
Thus, the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth Earls of Oxford held the position on a hereditary basis until 1626, when the eighteenth Earl died, again leaving a distant relative as a male heir, but a closer one as a female heir.

THE EARL OF LINDSEY, 1635 THE ATTEMPT TO APPLY LAND FORMATIONS TO THE FLEET, 1625 INTRODUCTORY From the point of view of command perhaps the most extraordinary naval expedition that ever left our shores was that of Sir Edward Cecil, Viscount Wimbledon, against Cadiz in 1625.
Cecil himself and the Earl of Essex, his vice-admiral, were Low Country colonels of no great experience in command even ashore, and Lord Denbigh, the rear-admiral, was a nobleman of next to none at all.
It may be that Lindsey's orders were merely in the nature of 'General Instructions,' to be supplemented by more particular 'Fighting Instructions,' as was the practice later.
