Earlsfield - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Earlsfield is an area within the London Borough of Wandsworth, London, United Kingdom.
A typical London suburb, Earlsfield is comprised of mostly residential terraced houses with a high street of shops, bars and restaurants (very few chain stores) on a stretch of Garratt Lane.
It is not as well known as its neighbouring areas such as Tooting, Clapham, Balham, and Battersea, which allows for a low key way of life while still being close enough to the bright lights and excitement of London.

Labour in Wandsworth - Earlsfield   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-11)
Earlsfield ward runs down the eastern edge of Tooting: in fact following the path of the river Wandle for its entire length, from the edge of Wandsworth town to Summerstown and the edge of Tooting Broadway.
Garratt Lane forms the spine of the ward and Earlsfield station is almost right in the middle.
The ward begins to climb up the hill towards Wandsworth Common: part of Allfarthing Lane, Earlsfield Road, Magdalene Road and Burntwood Lane are in Earlsfield, but the larger parts are in Wandsworth Common ward and the boundary between the two areas is somewhat arbitrary.

On-going enhancements to key interchange stations contribute to the better integration of the buses, tube, rail and trams enabling potential increases both in the efficiency of the network and the number of passengers carried.
The Earlsfield project also continues the successful promotion of cycling as an alternative means of transport, which has seen a 23% rise in the number of cycling journeys between the May/June of 2003 and 2004 on those roads managed by TfL, the Transport for London Road Network (TLRN).
TfL's interchange station funding is intended to enable local Borough councils to undertake improvements to trains, services and stations, in addition to work carried out by the regional Train Operating Companies (TOCs) and follows the allocation of £387,000 by TFL in 2003/2004 for similar improvements at eight station interchanges.
