One thing some users have had success with is to completely uninstall Google Earth, then go to earth.google.com and download the absolute latest version, then re-install that new version.
We're still working with the folks at Google to try to determine the cause and a permenant fix to the problem, but it definitely seems to be a combination of things that we've as of yet been unable to isolate.

Looking at Google Earth the other day and seeing how some of the maps there and on other sites were outdated the thought occurred that maybe here was a way for some airline to make a little extra money and maybe stay in business (or lower the price of its tickets for us).
The airlines would benefit from the extra cash flow and the company would benefit from the edge it now had over its competition in this field.
The main issue I'd see is that there are pretty well defined flight routes for airlines, so you'd end up with well photographed strips around the world, but missing most of the planet.
