Crisis on Infinite Earths - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Crisis on Infinite Earths was a twelve-issue comic book limited series (identified as a "12 part maxi-series") and crossover event, produced by DC Comics in 1985 in order to simplify their fifty-year-old continuity.
Crisis was used by DC as an opportunity to wipe much of its slate clean and make major changes to many of their major revenue-generating comic book series.
Crisis was again parodied in MAD Magazine issue #448, with the review of the fictional "Infinite Secret Crisis on All Earthly Worlds," which sought to solve the continuity problems by killing absolutely everyone, in alphabetical order.

"Earth Crisis" has taken a radical leap forward, bringing hard-core music into new dimensions, comparably examined through the chamber of a blast furnace and the quickened reaction one has from its slightest exposure.

The Greatest Comics - Crisis on Infinite Earths #1   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-23)
Not only was it the starting point for the re-introduction of every major DC character, it also marked the beginning of a universe in which major heroes died and stayed dead, millions of lives could be snuffed out on a whim, and a hero's life could be dramatically changed without warning.
The slate was wiped clean by the actions in Crisis, and a new generation of DC writers and artists were eager to make their own mark upon it.
Crisis also caught the attention of the mainstream media, who for the most part saw comics as juvenile entertainment.

The concern of Earth Bible writers is not to defend the biblical text blindly, but to identify those passages which may have contributed to the crisis and to uncover those traditions which have valued Earth but been suppressed.
By re-reading the text from the perspective of the oppressed Earth, it is the Earth Bible team’s fervent desire that they will do far more that assist at the birth of an additional method of reading the Bible, destined to take its rightful place in the complete Bible scholar’s exegetical repertoire.
Those who embrace Ecojustice principles will no longer regard Earth as an object of human gratification, or a resource for people to exploit, but as living and life-giving, possessed or her own intrinsic value and the right to be regarded as a subject that can celebrate and suffer alike.

Earth Crisis: Last of the Sane - PopMatters Music Review   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-23)
Possibly the most politically active band around, Earth Crisis spent most of the last decade championing the causes of environmentalism, human rights and animal liberation while simultaneously destroying the notion that only jam-rock bands and their throngs of tye-dyed fans can and will address such issues.
Earth Crisis's members were probably the anti-bullies at their high school; the tough kids who never really fit in, but also never bothered anyone who didn't deserve the ass-kicking of a lifetime.
The Earth Crisis original material, which makes up the latter half of the album, keeps the train in motion, but is stylistically much harder as most of it is from an older period when the band was less experimental and more straight ahead hardcore.

Not waiting a minute after the release of their full-length, "Slither," Earth Crisis stormed the studio again to record seven cover songs, paying tribute to their inspirations, and they even treated us to a band new song.
Earth Crisis' version of Black Sabbath's "Children of the Grave," I knew would be missing something very important - the unmistakable voice of Ozzy - the music in the song is well done, but it's just a little hollow without all those nasal-tone yelps.
The Dead Kennedys were never a favorite of mine - I didn't really dig their style, but Earth Crisis took "Holiday In Cambodia," dropped the guitar a couple octaves, kicked up the bass at least ten notches, turned the singing into growling, and it sounds perfect - definitely another winner.

Last of the Sane marks the return of Earth Crisis to their first real label home, Victory Records, after a brief stay at the somewhat bigger and more metal Roadrunner imprint.
The group sounds a little more genuine during their treatments of actual punk tracks, like the Dead Kennedys' "Holiday in Cambodia" or the Misfits' "Earth A.D." The classic Led Zeppelin cut from Physical Graffiti, "Wanton Song," is the better of the highly restylized classic rock and metal cuts.
Some might argue that Earth Crisis had lost a bit of their edge by the time of this return to Victory -- and the release of this record, along with Slither-- and that argument might indeed be correct.
