The Worm Wigwam operates best when the worm population is at its optimum level (15-18 pounds or 15,000 to 18,000 worms).
Due to all the variables (food stocks, worm population, type of worms and temperatures) we can make no claim to the daily consumption of organic waste.
This makes separating the worms from the castings much more difficult as the casting will tend to come out in wet clumps instead of fine dry ready to use castings.

Miracle earth movers worm way into favor with savvy gardeners
Happy worms produce more worms, and as they hike about underground, they aerate the soil by literally eating their weight in dirt, creating a web of channels that fill up behind the worms with castings.
Worm castings, which you can have as a free off-product of good soil practices, can be purchased as a rather pricey fertilizer.
You check daily for newly hatched worms, which are immediately taken to loose soil or raised to larger size in moist potting soil in a container with an escape-proof vented lid.

Composting with Worms » Earth 911
The best kind of worms for composting are “red worms,” or “red wigglers.” They are often found in old compost piles, but are different from the earthworms you would normally find in the ground.
Worm compost is more concentrated than most other composts because worms are so good at digesting food wastes and breaking them down in their digestive tracts into simple plant nutrients.
To amend soil, worm compost can be spread one-half to two inches thick over garden soil and mixed in before planting, or mixed into the bottom of seeding trenches or transplanting holes.
