The median income for a household in the township is $39,821, and the median income for a family is $45,893.

The East Brunswick Historical Society was organized to stimulate an interest in history, particularly East Brunswick, and to protect and preserve historical sites and structures, artifacts, memorabilia and documents in East Brunswick, in order to create an identifiable cultural heritage for the community.
It is bordered on two sides, east and south, by the South River, by the Chestnut Hill Cemetery on the north and by Route 18 and Old Bridge Turnpike on the west.
In 1860 the Township of East Brunswick, separated from North Brunswick and Monroe, was incorporated as an entity.

The Pennsylvania Railroad crosses the northern border of the township from the northeast corner in a soatbwesterly direction to Trenton, and the Amboy Division of the great network of railways so known runs in a course nearly parallel with the main line across the southern part, with a station at Yardville.
In 1772 the west end was built; in the early part of this century the east end was raised to the height of the rest of the house.
This village is in the eastern part of the township north of the centre, on the road from Trenton easterly.

Township Administrator Fred Mann met Gilman at a county seminar on open space in mid-April, and she also was recommended by the Voorhees Environmental Commission.
Although the measure seemed to have passed by a 2-1 ratio, results in the township were not final because a ballot cartridge was stuck in one of the voting machines and not counted.
The township does not yet know what it may do with most of the land, although a study is under way to build sports fields on a portion of one property.

In 1885, it redefined and enlarged the boundaries of Cranbury, and in 1919, the size of South Brunswick was further reduced with the formation of Plainsboro Township.
The rural nature of the Township continued throughout the 18th century, with increases in commercial and residential growth and development coinciding with the introduction of new transportation routes.
George Washington and the Governors of East Jersey were known to stop here on their travels, and an oft-quoted story relates that at one time 49 stages, loaded with passengers, halted at the Withington Tavern, where more than 400 horses were standing in front.

MARCIA THURSTON, daughter of Jesse Bishop, of Bruce Township, was born March 16, 1845; married to Manly Thurston, son of B. Thurston, October 15, 1862; after marriage, resided on the farm of his father one year, then bought the farm on Section 18 known as the Donaldson farm, on which the family still reside.
