East Drumore Township is a township located in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
As of the 2000 census, the population of the township is 3,535.
In the township the population is spread out with 27.8% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 23.6% from 25 to 44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 19.9% who are 65 years of age or older.

Lancaster County is a county located in the south central portion of the state of Pennsylvania in the Susquehanna Valley.
It was part of Chester County, Pennsylvania until May 10, 1729 when it became the fourth county in the state.
Lancaster County is bounded in the northwest by Dauphin County and Lebanon County, in the northeast by Berks County, in the southeast by Chester County and in the southwest by York County, separated by the Susquehanna River.

ACHESON, a retired farmer of East Drumore township, Lancaster county, was born in Eden township in October, 1839, son of Cuningham and Anna (Markley) Acheson.
He was a conductor on the Pennsylvania railroad, and was killed in an accident; leaving a widow and one daughter, Catherine.
In 1891 he married Alice Trimble, who was born in Drumore township in 1874, daughter of John and Amanda (Connelly) Trimble; her mother died when she was a child, and she made her home with the parents of her husband.

ISAAC GROFF, a retired farmer of Mechanics Grove, in East Drumore township, Lancaster county, was born in the township where he is still living, Aug. 19, 1834, being a son of Joseph and Nancy (Smith) Groff, both natives of Lancaster county.
Isaac Groff was reared on the old homestead in East Drumore township, where he was living at the outbreak of the Civil war.
Groff returned to the old home in Drumore township, where he had left a young wife, having been married in 1861 to Miss Louisa Marshall, the daughter of Abraham and Martha Marshall, and a native of West Drumore township, where she was born in 1833.

 Early Blacksmiths of Lancaster County
The size of bar iron may have varied through the years, but an interesting account of the sicklemakers in Drumore Township indicated that the iron was two inches wide and one inch thick.
A careful study of the eighteenth century iron industry in Pennsylvania reveals that the flsmith and his shop were closely associated with the forge at the ironworks where the bar iron was made.
John Long in Drumore Township was a flsmith in 1759 (see Appendix), a cutler in 1796, and a sicklemaker in 1814.

So Jacob WHITE was in Westmoreland County, PA by the age of 20 in 1801 even though his father died in Lancaster County in 1815 - the Eastern side of PA. - It seems likely that Elizabeth "Betsy" MITCHEL's parents were in Westmoreland County at the time of her marriage at the age of 20.
After the close of the Revolutionary war and after the burning of Hannastown in 1782, there was really but little mischief done by the Indians in Westmoreland county as it now exists, or rather, we should say, little in comparison with what was done before.
Their house is said to have been two miles east of Latrobe, on the line of the Ligonier Valley railroad.
