East Fortune is a village in East Lothian, Scotland, located 2 miles (3 km) north west of East Linton.
In 1922, several buildings and an area of land were used to create East Fortune Hospital.
For a short period of time in 1961, East Fortune operated as Edinburgh's airport while facilities at Turnhouse were being reconstructed.

East Fortune has a long aviation history, being established in 1915 as a fighter and airship base.
However, documents examined at East Fortune seem to suggest that the aircraft was transported from Marshalls on a low loader sometime between 20th March and 30th April 1975.

USS Fortune was recommissioned, and stayed in commission, from 15 December 1899 to 6 June 1901...to serve as a gunnery training vessel for naval apprentices (read "boots") at the naval training station at Newport, Rhode Island.
Of note is that that transit from the east coast of the United States to the west coast of the United States was made prior to the opening of the Panama Canal.

East Fortune is probably best known today as the home of the Museum of Flight and as the starting point of the first nonstop double crossing of the Atlantic, achieved by the airship R34 in July 1919.
Military flying was to be seen again at East Fortune during the Second World War, with the arrival in June 1941 of No. 60 Operational Training Unit (O.T.U.) from Yorkshire.
As a result, on 24 November 1942 East Fortune aerodrome was transferred to No. 17 Group, Coastal Command and training now began with No. 132 O.T.U. Training was now given for anti-shipping strikes using Beauforts and Beaufighters, these being the main anti-shipping aircraft then in use.

The best way would be to use the entire (except microlight) East Fortune Airfield but the Sunday Market must earn the owner of that part too much to give it up.
