East Goshen Township was incorportated in 1817 when Goshen was divided, forming East and West Goshen Townships.
In the township the population is spread out with 22.2% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 26.0% from 45 to 64, and 18.3% who are 65 years of age or older.

In 1708, 100 perches of ground were given by Griffith Owen, landowner on the east side of North Chester Road, for the establishment of a cemetery and meetinghouse.
It was the township seat and it contained the public school (highly altered and not included in the district), and a tavern (now demolished).

White responded that the added expenses for the Township came from the 11% increase in health insurance for employees, a 50% increase in cost for fltopping Township roads, the state mandated addition of a Stormwater Management employee and the 4% salary increase for employees which is the same as that negotiated in the Police contract.
White said that for a homeowner in West Goshen Township whose house is assessed at the average of $180,000, the tax increase was $113.
Craig responded that the Township and the Chester County Conservation District are responsible for overseeing the basins.
