  History of Dublin
Dublin was described as a "dirty, overcrowded, unhealthy, and dangerous place to live." (Lydon, 1985) During the Anglo-Norman rule, the Black death swept through Dublin and subsequent plagues significantly affected the vitality of the city.
Eventually, Dublin began a period of decline resulting partially from the invasion of Edward Bruce, the burning of Dublin's suburbs to thwart Scottish attacks, and frequent Irish attacks on the Anglo-Normans.
Dublin ranked at the 6th largest city in Europe throughout this period partially as a result of the economic success it gained by the growing adoption of capitalism.

 DCMI Point Encoding Scheme
Components of the value string correspond to the location coordinates in north and east directions, plus optionally elevation, and also allow the coordinate system and units to be specified, and a name if desired.
Here we define DCMI Point, an encoding scheme which specifies the coordinates of the point location of a place, and describe a method for encoding DCMI Point in a text string using the DCSV syntax [DCSV].
The point may correspond to some place within an extensive region, such as the areal or volumetric centroid, but we do not specify the nature of the relationship in this document, nor is such specification necessary in a DCMI resource description.
