The Lower EastSide is a neighborhood of the New York City borough of Manhattan.
In what is now the East Village, a preexisting population of Poles and Ukrainians has been significantly replenished with newer immigrants, and the arrival of large numbers of Japanese people over the last fifteen years or so has led to the proliferation of Japanese restaurants and specialty food markets.
East Village was once Lower EastSide's northwest corner alongside Greenwich Village; it received that name from real estate developers in the 1980s trying to dissociate the area from the Lower EastSide's reputation.
On the East Berlin's side the Wall was painted white, a small barrier prevented to come too close to or to touch the Wall.
Whereas on the West Berlin's side the Wall was used as a good object for painting the East Berlin's side was grey and white.
After the collapse of East Germany artists painted the Wall at Mühlenstrasse and it was a wonderful gallery with different paintings, created by artist from all over the world.
The Lower EastSide Conservancy is a preservation organization that specializes in tours of this fascinating neighborhood, visiting beautiful and historic synagogues.
The long-contracting Jewish Lower EastSide, the primal homeland for American immigrant Jews, has lost so much of its cultural texture and so many of its living touchstones that it may be time finally to pronounce it dead.
While the Lower EastSide may not be what it was, in fact, the neighborhood as remembered, idealized and enshrined in popular culture probably never existed.

Parts of it are also referred to as "Loisaida," a blurring together that derives from a Latino pronunication of the three-word name.
