Both Stroud and Stonehouse are on the railway network, on the line from Gloucester to Swindon.
The path is running generally eastwards now, along the slopes that form the southern side of the Frome valley, but the complications are not over; these slopes have their own little collection of spurs and coombes and the path is continually curving left and right to track around them.
The Cotswold way takes a complicated little route through farm pastures to the east of the village but it is rather more straightforward to stay on the lane and reach the village centre direct.

Reverend George Errington (1804-86) of St. John's Church, Salford, was appointed by the Holy See first Bishop of Plymouth, and on 25 July, 1851, consecrated there, together with the first Bishop of Salford, by Cardinal Wiseman.
On 7 August he was installed at St. Mary's church, East Stonehouse, Devon, which mission included its neighbour, Plymouth, wherein no Catholic place of worship existed.
It is worthy of note that Bishop John Carroll of Baltimore, founder of the Hierarchy of the Church in the United States of America, was on 15 August, 1790, consecrated in Lulworth Church, Dorset, by Bishop Walmesley, Vicar Apostolic of the Western District.

Route 370A followed the same route as far as Grays, but diverted to Purfleet Station via East Purfleet and ran mainly during peak times and not at all on Sunday.

The Cotswold Way leaves the Stroud valley road from just east of Stonehouse, a small town west of Stroud and nominally separate from it although the built-up area is continuous.
There are two lines of approach; if you disembark at Stonehouse railway station then all you need do is follow a footpath along the north side of the railway track for a kilometer to the east, where you will pick up the route of the CW at a footbridge over the track.
The line of the Way is supposed to cross a pasture to the east of this suburban road on the diagonal, but it's more straightforward - and possibly less disruptive to the cattle grazing there - to walk up the road instead, turn right into Edge Road, and walk along into the village centre.
