MALVERN- According to a representative of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, residents of East Whiteland Township are looking forward to the proposed slip ramp on Route 29.
However, one of the township's supervisors disputed the generalization made that all residents of the municipality were in favor of the project.
Schuylkill, East Whiteland and Charlestown townships recently drafted a letter and presented it to the commission to halt the planning of the ramp until "very important issues" were resolved.

This funding and guaranteed loan assistance help local communities to redevelop abandoned, idle or underutilized facilities where redevelopment is complicated by environmental contamination.
The 108 funds will be used to offset construction costs and all the BEDI funds will be put into a debt reserve account to provide security for the Section 108 loan.

Large amounts of lithium waste waters were disposed of into a former limestone quarry known as the "wet quarry" until 1975, when Foote stopped the disposal under orders from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources.
Until 1966, municipal wastes, demolition debris, and waste water from cleaning drums contaminated with lithium were disposed of in a nearby "dry quarry." The wet quarry contains approximately 50 feet of waste material; the dry quarry, 15 feet.
Four public water systems are involved: Philadelphia Suburban Water Co., Uwchlan Township Municipal Authority, and two smaller systems.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PENNDOT) today announced that roadwork will start Monday (December 8) on the $2.6 million project to widen and improve State Route 29 in East Whiteland Township, Chester County.
Under the $2,637,355 project, PENNDOT will widen Route 29 from two lanes to four between Great Valley Parkway and General Warren Boulevard to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.
