Encyclopedia :: encyclopedia : Cast iron   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-19)
Cast iron usually refers to grey cast iron, but can mean any of a group of iron-based alloys containing more than 2% carbon (alloys with less carbon are carbon steel by definition).
Cast iron tends to be brittle, unless the name of the particular alloy suggests otherwise.
The recommended method for cleaning cast iron cookware is to scrub the inside with a tablespoon of a course salt, such as kosher salt and rub with a towel.

EastEnders - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
EastEnders has been known to have a "comedy double-act" in the show, previously demonstrated with the characters of Huw Edwards and Lenny Wallace, and Natalie Price and Bianca Jackson (and later with Bianca and Tiffany Raymond), and currently seen with Garry Hobbs and Minty Peterson.
EastEnders is one of the more popular programmes on British television and regularly attracts between 9 and 13 million viewers, beating Corrie by about a million viewers but losing in the overnights, while the show's ratings have fallen since its initial surge in popularity, the programme continues to be largely lucrative for the BBC.
EastEnders is often criticised for being too violent, most notably during a domestic violence storyline between Little Mo Morgan and her husband Trevor.

 EastEnders
EastEnders is typical of the soap opera in this respect, maintaining at any one time two or more major and several minor intertwining narratives, with cliffhangers at the ends of episodes and (temporary) resolutions within the body of some episodes.
Eastenders strives to be realistic and relevant rather than issue-led, with the educational element professed as an incidental outcome of its commitment to realism.
This potentially depressing mix is lightened by a dose of British humour and wit, by the dramatic intensity of the emotions and issues portrayed, and by the nostalgic gloss given to the portrayal of solidarity and warmth in a supposedly authentic community.

Anita Dobson - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Interestingly, Anita was not the first person to be cast as Angie - another actress, Jean Fennell, had already began recording when it was decided that her performance did not gel with the original idea of the character, and so Anita landed the role at the last minute.
The character of Angie Watts was subsequently killed off-screen in 2002 (dying of a drink related illness) and brought home to be buried by her on-screen daughter Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), who had recently returned to the show.
She once dated her EastEnders cast mate Tom Watt who played Lofty Holloway, but is now married to Queen guitarist Brian May.

BBC bosses have infuriated the cast of Eastenders with plans to scrap the current schedule of a four-day week in favour of a Big Brother-style 24/7 blanket coverage of life with characters of "the Square".
In a gloves-off battle with the Channel 4 voyeuristic show, and its ever increasing popularity amongst the mentally ill and the mindless soap opera loving population, BBC chiefs are set to house all the Eastenders cast in a Viking style communal building with a hole in the corner to shi*t through.
Plans are already underway to secretly transport the cast away from the "Queen Vic" in a live special to commemorate the England football team's sound thrashing of Argentina in the World Cup.

And, like the 24-hour amnesiac, the metaphorical slate is wiped clean and history is relegated to the hazy hinterlands of a scriptwriter's memory, only to be rehashed and morphed as required, with barely even a passing glance to continuity or the viewers' sensibilities.
With the departure of Martin Kemp and his sunken dome, there is not one member of the cast that generates anything approaching sexual magnetism.
Which is a pity as it has the elements contained within its cast and crew to raise its standards and become so much better and more entertaining than it currently is.
