Eastman School of Music has been the worst experience of my life.
I transferred here from Manhattan School of Music because of scholarship money, but there is no comparison in terms of quality and opportunity between the two schools.
The voice teachers have ruined numerous students instruments, the composition department is focused on 20th Century atonal garbage, and the choir is an exercise in screaming.

One logistical problem that may not have occurred to you yet is that music students as a whole are quite different from other students in terms of what kind of skill sets they need to be learning in college, and what kinds of relationships they expect to have with professors.
Someone once opined to me that the reason that humanities courses were brought into the Eastman school separate from the U of R is that Eastman students couldn't hack it in the College, or the school wanted profs who would agree to kowtow to the "applied study comes first" mandate.
