The P-1 Pressure Tunnel is a 16 ft. diameter, welded steel lined tunnel approximately 2,200 feet long that connects the P-1 Pumping Plant with the I/O Tower at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California Eastside Reservoir Project, now called Diamond Valley Lake.
The P-1 Pressure tunnel is the primary structure used for moving water into or out of the water storage reservoir and is designed to handle flows of 2,100 cubic ft. per second.
