CD Review of John Pizzarelli - Knowing You on Telarc @ jazzreview.com
Of course, he was born into a talented family, going back to his uncles and grandparents, and a mainstay of Pizzarelli group, a reason for the empathetic collaboration within the trio, is brother Martin Pizzarelli’s work on bass as well.
Rounding out the familial involvement is Bucky’s inconspicuous rhythm guitar back-up on “Eastwood Lane” and “Say It (Over And Over Again)”.
Even though his wry lyrics aren’t heard often enough, except when presented by appreciative singers like Pizzarelli, even his “Eastwood Lane” is more obscure than “Quality Time,” which Susannah McCorkle in particular helped to bring to the public’s attention.
